Nissan has announced that all 2012 models will come with QR codes on the windows of vehicle to give consumers loads of information and functions for them to utilize while shopping for a car.
The QR Code campaign was started in June with the launch of the 2012 Nissan Altima and Sentra. A QR code example is pictured to the right.
The Nissan “On Vehicle Graphics” system uses QR code technology where a person scans the code with their reader on their smartphone and receives a mass amount of information on the vehicle.
Nissan has included the following information and functions in the QR Code:
- Specific vehicle information (features, available accessories, grade walk)
- Dealer inventory
- Request a quote
- Image gallery
- Incentive offers
- Videos of vehicle overviews
- Join a mailing list request
- Dealer location support
Jon Brancheau, vice president of marketing at Nissan North America explained, “Initial consumer response, based on early 2012 Altima QR code availability, has been extremely encouraging, with consumers viewing multiple pages and requesting follow up information…it’s one more way Nissan helps the consumer by delivering content on their terms.”
The QR codes give buyers a new ability to shop with information that is vital to their decision making process. The codes even allow customers to shop after hours without a salesperson to guide them through what the vehicle offers and ability to follow up to get more information.
